Theft of Another Expensive Handbag Thwarted

On January 13, Greenwich Police received a tip that a handbag valued at $2,150 had been found hidden behind an air conditioning unit in central Greenwich.

Officers determined the handbag was missing from a central Greenwich retailer and had been stolen.

Police setup visual surveillance of the handbag and observed the suspect, Joshua James Rodriguez, 24, of E 145th Street in New York, NY, retrieve the handbag and hide it in his jacket.

When approached by officers, Rodriguez admitted he had stolen the handbag and had intended to sell it for profit.

Rodriguez was charged with Larceny 3. His bond was set at $1,000 which he was able to post.

He was released and has a date in Stamford Superior Court on Jan 28, 2019.
