Suspicious Behavior on Greenwich Ave Leads to Shoplifting Arrest

On Thursday, just before 8:00pm, Greenwich Police responded to the area of 205 Greenwich Ave (the address associated with Saks Fifth Avenue) on a report of an illegally parked car.

Police say an officer working an off duty side job then spotted multiple people exhibiting suspicious behavior consistent with retail theft crime.

Officers arrived in the area and located two occupants of the illegally parked car walking along Greenwich Avenue.

The vehicle in question was next spotted unoccupied and illegally parked in a different location.

In the vehicle police found multiple re-usable shopping bags containing a large amount of pharmaceutical products determined to have been stolen from a Greenwich Avenue business.

Police arrested Jamaal W Freeman, 34, of New York, NY.

According to Lt Mark Zuccerella at Greenwich Police Dept, Mr. Freeman was found in possession of stolen probiotics, allergy medicine, Pampers, Xyzal allergy medication, Plan B One Step Morning After Pill, Pepcid, and Tylenol Rapid Release Gels.

Also located in the car was a shoplifting device and green leafy substance later determined to be marijuana.
