Probable cause was established after investigators determined that Chaphichadze was responsible for multiple residential burglaries in both Greenwich and New Canaan.

Detectives identified a pattern of burglaries sharing a consistent and distinctive modus operandi. The combined value of stolen property in these incidents is estimated to be at least $1,015,115.00.

Following a thorough and diligent investigation, detectives were able to develop and secure evidence linking Chaphichadze to these crimes.

On January 28, 2026, Chaphichadze was arrested in  Connecticut by Greenwich Police Detectives on the active arrest warrant.

Chaphichadze has been charged with the following offenses:

Conspiracy to Commit Larceny in the First Degree (53a-48 / 53a-122) – 5 counts

• Conspiracy to Commit Burglary in the Third Degree (53a-48 / 53a-103) – 6 counts

• Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Mischief in the First Degree (53a-48 / 53a-115) – 2 counts

Chaphichadze’s bond was set at $5,000,000 by the court.

Police reminded residents to make sure their home alarm systems are fully operational. In particular, second-floor glass break sensors, as investigators have noted that many recent burglaries involved entry through second-floor windows.

“The Greenwich Police Department remains committed to protecting the safety and security of our community,” Police said.

The investigation is active and no further information will be released at this time.
