Stopped for No Headlights, Driver, Convicted Felon on Parole, Had Loaded Handgun

On March 2 around 3:15am, Greenwich Police stopped a car on West Putnam Ave near Prospect Street for driving without headlights illuminated.

Police say when they approached the car and spoke with the occupants, they detected the odor of marijuana.

A search of the interior of the car yielded a small amount of marijuana and a loaded .380 handgun in the driver’s door pocket.

Police say Victor Deleon, 40, of Bridgeport, is a convicted felon on parole.

He was placed under arrest and charged with 6 counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Illegal Possession of Weapon in Motor Vehicle, Criminal Attempt/Alteration of Firearm and Possession Less than1/2 Oz Cannabis.

In addition to these charges, he was also issued a written warning for No Headlights Illuminated.

Leleon’s bond was set at $100,000, which he was unable to post. He has a date in Stamford Superior Court on March 16, 2021.
