Stolen Car Spotted in North Mianus Leads to Foot Pursuit of Wanted Man

Monday evening Greenwich Police explained their activity Monday afternoon in the North Mianus area of Greenwich, near Stamford.

At about 10:47am, a detective spotted the suspect vehicle, a Ford Fusion, traveling on Sound Beach Ave near Keofferman Rd in Old Greenwich.  The vehicle had been reported stolen from Cos Cob Ave back on Feb 27, 2021, and was being driven by a female with a male passenger.

The vehicle was located again near Westcott, and was confirmed to be the car that was stolen from Cos Cob Ave.

Police initiated a motor vehicle stop, at which point the passenger exited the car and fled the scene. The driver remained in the car and was detained by police.

Officers engaged the suspect in a foot pursuit through the yards in and near Havemeyer Park.

Police requested assistance from Stamford Police Dept for the use of their canines.

Out of an abundance of caution, the Board of Education and the nearby pre-school were called and advised of the police activity.

At approximately 12:45pm, the suspect was identified as Emory Jean-Louis, who is currently wanted by several Connecticut agencies for Burglary and Escape from Custody.

In January 2021, Mr. Jean-Louis escaped from the correctional facility in New Haven.

At 12:45pm, the Board of Education and the pre-school were advised that the police activity in the area was ending.

Captain Mark Zuccerella said police stationed patrol units at the two area public schools for the remainder of the school day.

The investigation has been transferred to the Greenwich Police Detective Division.

Police arrested Mr. Jean-Louis in 2018 (Case #18-23279, Motor Vehicle Theft of a Toyota). No mugshot was available.

Zuccerella said more information would be released when available.
