Greenwich Police responded to a report of a car on a tree stump on Louden Street just off the I95 exit 2 ramp. The incident took place on Nov 30 around 7:05am.
According to Greenwich police David Benson Alari, 37, of Stamford was seated in the driver’s seat and was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The vehicle key was observed in the ignition and turned to the “ACC” position (powers non-engine electrical components like radio, windows and chargers without starting the engine).
During the investigation officers detected an odor of alcoholic beverage on the accused’s breath and determined the accused was showing signs of alcohol impairment. They said they located an empty bottle of alcohol on the ground near the vehicle. They also noticed a set of skid marks in the street leading to the final resting location of the vehicle.
Police said Mr. Alari refused field sobriety test s and when being placed under arrest, he attempted to pull away from officers handcuffing him.
Alari was charged with DUI, Unsafe Movement of Stopped Vehicle, and Interfering with Officer/Resisting.
He was able to post the required minimum 7% ($700) of his $10,000 bond and was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on Dec 15, 2025.
