Downtown Shoplifting Incident Results in Woman’s Arrest

New Greenwich Police CarsA woman was arrested after trying to steal a necklace and pair of earrings on Wednesday. At about 1:10pm officers responded to Splurge (39 Lewis Street) on the report of a shoplifting thereat.

Voluntary sworn written statements were provided by employees at both locations.

A woman described by the reporting party was located a short time later on Lewis Street by Lewis Court. She was identified as Christina Bauer, of 169 Bowen Rd in Carmel NY. She was arrested and charged with Larceny in the 4th degree, Larceny in the 6th degree, and Criminal Attempt at Larceny.

Investigation later revealed that Ms. Bauer had visited both Splurge and Hoaglands on Wednesday, and after each visit, numerous items were found to be missing including four bracelets from Splurge at 39 Lewis Street and 35 Alex & Ani bracelets and one shave brush from Hoaglands at 175 Greenwich Ave, which were discovered in her purse.

She was able to post her $500 bond and was subsequently released from custody and has a court date of March 11, 2015 at Stamford Superior Court.
