Shoplifter Charged with Interfering with an Officer After Providing False Names

Greenwich Police say that on Saturday night they responded to CVS in Old Greenwich on a report of a Larceny. When they arrived they spotted a woman matching the description of the suspect and determined she was in possession of stolen merchandise.

During the course of the investigation, the suspect provided officers with several different names in an attempt to conceal her identity.

She was later identified through fingerprints and previous mug shots at Greenwich Police Dept as Shawana Smith, 47, of Old Orchard Lane in Stamford. She admitted to officers that she had stolen the items from CVS.

She was charged with Larceny 6 and Interfering with an Officer/Resisting Arrest. She was released on a promise to appear in Stamford Superior Court on August 10, 2019.
