Queens Teen Charged with Passing Bogus Benjamins on Greenwich Ave

On Sept 3 Greenwich Police responded to a business in the area of Greenwich Ave and East Elm Street on a report of someone trying to use counterfeit $100 bills.

Police made contact with the suspect, Marissa Castro-Velez, 18, of Astoria, Queens, and determined she had tried to purchase $654.05 worth of merchandise with the counterfeit bills.

During a search of Castro’s property, narcotics and paraphernalia were found.

She was charged with Use of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Controlled Substance, Criminal Attempt Larceny 5 and Forgery 1.

Her bond was set at $2,500, which she was able to post. She has a date in Stamford Superior Court on Sept 17, 2021.
