Alert Witness Links License Plate to Port Chester Man in Hit and Run

Donald R Bunch, of 55 Washington Street in Port Chester was arrested by Greenwich Police on Nov 30 and charged with DUI and Evading Responsibility following a crash in Byram back on Sept 6, 2016.

According to Lt. Kraig Gray of Greenwich Police, Mr. Bunch was driving a 2001 Nissan Sentra when he rear ended a 2015 BMW on Byram Road approaching the red light at Delavan Avenue. Lt Gray said both parties got out of their cars. The victim and suspect spoke briefly, but when she said she intended to call police, the suspect jumped in his car and drove away without exchanging information. A witness, however, related having seen the interaction and the suspect jump into his car and flee. She took down the license plate, which came back to Mr. Bunch.

On November 30, Greenwich Police responded to Westchester Correctional Facility to extradite Mr. Bunch on an active tri-state felony arrest warrant.

Bunch, who was turned over to investigators from Greenwich Police Dept, was transported to Greenwich Police headquarters and processed. He was assigned a court date of Dec. 14, 2016 in Stamford Superior Court.

He was unable to post his $20,000 bond and was placed in a Greenwich Police cell block.
