On June 10 Greenwich Police responded to the area of Arch Street and Railroad Ave on a report of a License Plate Reader hit for a stolen car registered in New Jersey.
Police stopped the car around 8:00pm near town hall and determined the driver and sole occupant was Tavaughn Anthony Lee-Sterling, 32, of Wellington, Florida.
Investigation revealed the vehicle was rented back on May 12, 2025 and had been due to be returned on May 23 but was not returned.
Police said the driver was determined to have warrants out of Maryland for assault and attempted murder.
He was arrested and charged with Larceny of a Motor Vehicle – first offense.
He was unable to post his $500,000 bond and was placed into a GPD cell. He is due in court in Stamford on June 25, 2025.
