On the afternoon of Thursday, Feb 27 Greenwich Police on foot in central Greenwich observed a larceny in progress.
The suspect, later identified as Hamad Bakayoko, 20, of New York City, and a juvenile fled on foot in different directions when confronted by officers.
Police say Bakayoko and the juvenile stole $2.057.90 worth of merchandise including glass figurines and gifts from a store on Greenwich Avenue.
Bakayoko was charged with Interfering with an Officer/Resisting Arrest, Larceny 3, Risk of Injury to Child and Organized Retail Theft.
Bakayoko’s bond was initially set at $25,000 but he was later released on a promise to appear in Stamford Superior Court on March 10, 2020. Bakayoko’s accomplice was referred to juvenile court.
