Plain Clothes and Bike Police Charge Men with Forgery, Attempted Larceny for Incident on the Ave

On March 8 Greenwich Police were detailed to a business on Greenwich Avenue on a report of a fraudulent transaction. The address on the run sheet is associated with the Verizon Store.

Police say two men from Flushing, NY, were attempting to use fake IRS documents that contained personal identifying information of a business to open an account, and avoid paying for multiple phones and tablets with a value totaling $6,030.

Bike patrol officers and plain clothes police working in the area detained the two men.

Each was charged with Criminal Attempt Larceny 3, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 3, Criminal Impersonation, Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Impersonation, Forgery 1 and Conspiracy to Commit Forgery 1.

Each was assigned a bond of $5,000 and share a date in Stamford Superior Court on March 23, 2022.

Both posted the required 10% of their bond and were released.
