On Saturday, February 22, 2025, at approximately 2:31 pm, the Greenwich Police Department Patrol Units received an urgent dispatch to 102 Club Road.
An elderly man was observed in the frigid waters of Cos Cob Harbor near the navigation channel.
The quick arrival of Greenwich Police officers found the man struggling to stay afloat, aided by the heroic efforts of Riverside Yacht Club staff members.
Despite the harrowing conditions—35° Fahrenheit water —officers and staff were able to pull the elderly man from the icy waters and provid critical medical assistance on the scene.
The Police Dept commended Patrol Officers M. Swift, Caldwell, and Pascale for their exceptional performance.
“Their unwavering to service and teamwork epitomize the core values of our department: confronting difficult situations with confidence, determination, and bravery,” police said.
“Their actions reflect our unyielding commitment to doing what is right, no matter the physical or mental challenges.”
