New Traffic Signal in Glenville to Operate in Flashing Mode for One Week

The Glenville Corridor Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Project spans roughly 1,500 feet from the intersection of Glen Ridge Road/Glenville Street to the intersection with Weaver Street. The project optimizes traffic signals, adds sidewalks, improves intersections and enhances pedestrian safety.

Police announced that beginning Thursday, the newly installed traffic signal at the intersection of Glenville Road and Pemberwick Road will operate in flashing mode for one week. This temporary flashing period is a standard testing and verification process required for all newly installed traffic signals before they are placed into normal operation.

During the flashing period:

Motorists traveling on Glenville Road will encounter a flashing yellow signal and should slow down and proceed with caution through the intersection.

Motorists traveling on Pemberwick Road will encounter a flashing red signal and must come to a complete stop before proceeding when it is safe to do so, just as they would at a stop sign.

Greenwich Police remind drivers to remain alert, obey the temporary traffic control devices, and use extra caution while traveling through the intersection during this testing phase.

Additional updates will be provided when the traffic signal is scheduled to begin normal operation.

The Greenwich Police Department appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as these improvements continue to enhance traffic safety.
