Greenwich Police plainclothes officers in the area of Greenwich Ave and East Elm Street were approached by two men offering to sell them “Apple Airpods” and an “Apple watch.”
The incident took place around 6:00pm on July 31.
The men, later identified as Fallou Gadiaga, 22, of Bronx, NY, and Aliou Wagne, 24, of New York, NY, attempted to sell the products at a significant discount from the Apple manufacturer’s recommended retail price.
On scene investigation revealed Mr. Gadiaga and Mr. Wagne were attempting to sell counterfeit Apple products.
The manufacturer’s recommended retail price of counterfeit Apple products located on Mr. Gadiaga totaled $3,558.98.
The manufacturer’s recommended retail price of counterfeit Apple products located on Mr. Wagne totaled $4,689.
He was placed under arrest and charged with Forgery of Label, Larceny 2, Criminal Attempt at Larceny 2 and Violation of Peddler Ordinance.
Bond for each man was set at $1,000. Each was able to post the required 7% of the $1,000 bond and were released from custody. They share a date in Stamford Superior Court on Aug 14, 2024.
