Man Selling Candy on Greenwich Ave without Permit Charged as Fugitive from Justice

On Thursday, Aug. 27, Greenwich Police responded to the area of Shoes ‘N More on Greenwich Ave on the report of men selling candy without a permit thereat.

Police located two men, later identified as Jarvis Williams, 26, of 507 Bergen Ave in Jersey City NJ, and a juvenile holding cases of Welch’s fruit snack candy. The men said they were selling the candy, but did not have a permit.

Both men were arrested for Violation of a Town Ordinance Infraction. The juvenile was released. Mr. Williams was assigned a court date at Stamford Superior Court on Sept. 5. He was unable to post his $49 bond and was placed into a cell at Greenwich Police station.

Mr. Williams was also charged with Failure to Respond to an Infraction after Greenwich Police learned of a warrant from Norwalk Police Dept stemming back to May 2011.

A third charge was added when Greenwich Police NCIC query revealed that Jarvis also had an active extraditable arrest warrant out of Jersey City, NJ. Mr. Jarvis was charged with being a Fugitive From Justice. Bond was set at $50,000 and a court date scheduled at Stamford Superior Court on Sept. 3.
