Man Charged with Evading Responsibility after Hitting Utility Pole with Truck, Causing Electrical Fire

On Nov 30 a Stamford man turned himself in at Greenwich Police headquarters on an active arrest warrant stemming back to an incident around 4:30am on Nov 1, 2021.

Police say that on that early morning, Richard Reynolds, 51, had backed his vehicle into an electrical fuse/meter box on the north exterior wall of 5 Strickland Road, resulting in an electrical fire at the top of an Eversource pole.

Mr. Reynolds fled the scene, evading responsibility for property damage.

Further, he was driving a garbage truck retrieving garbage prior to the hours of 5:00am, in violation of a town ordinance.

Reynolds was placed under arrest for Evading Motor Vehicle Responsibility / Property Damages, Unsafe Backing, and Violating of Town Ordinance.

He was able to post his court set bond of $10,000 and assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on Dec 15, 2021.
