Man Charged with Back Country Burglary, Larceny

On Thursday, Aug 23, Greenwich Police investigators went to Manhattan Superior Court to extradite Juan C Bonilla-Arias, 26, of 92nd Street in Jackson Heights, NY.

He was wanted for Burglary and Larceny relating to an incident on Gaston Farm Road in Greenwich last November 18, 2017.

According to Lt John Slusarz, Greenwich Police have been working this case for some time.

He said the thief likely had 4-5 minutes alone in the house between the alarm being triggered and police arriving. During that time, jewelry and watches were stolen.

“First they (alarm company) call the residence. If no one answers, they call Greenwich Police,” he said, adding that when police arrived they found signs of forced entry.

After being extradited, Mr. Bonilla-Arias was charged with two counts Criminal Attempt Burglary 1, one count of Criminal Attempt Burglary 3, and three counts of Criminal Attempt Larceny 1.

His bond was set at $100,000, which he was unable to post. He was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on Sept 6, 2018.
