Man Charged by Greenwich Police Larceny and Having Switchblade in a Car

On November 16, Greenwich Police arrested Brian Benson, 46, of 500 Dewey Street in Bridgeport by warrant on charges related to an incident stemming back to the afternoon of October 7 in the area of Round Hill Road by Route 15.

Lt Slusarz said Mr. Benson came to the attention of Greenwich Police on Nov 16 when he was involved in a motor vehicle accident in Waterbury CT. During investigation of that accident, police discovered Benson had an active arrest warrant.

Back in October 2016 Harrison, NY police were investigating the theft of landscaping equipment and had developed a suspect. While conducting their investigation, Harrison Police followed the suspect to a location in Greenwich and contacted GPD as part of their investigation.

Mr. Benson was charged with Illegal Possession of a Weapon in a Motor Vehicle and Larceny 5. The weapon charge refers to a switchblade and the larceny charge stems back to stolen landscaping equipment.

Mr. Benson has a court date in Stamford Superior Court on Nov 24, 2017. He was able to post his court set bond of $500 and was released from police custody.
