Man Arrested for Threatening to Kidnap and Kill a Juvenile via Instagram

On March 5 Greenwich Police were contacted by a juvenile victim who was advised that she was threatened by through Instagram by a man who threatened to kidnap and kill her.

Police conducted an investigation and allege that Steven Kavanah, 24, of Purdy Street in Harrison, NY did send the message via Instagram.

They applied for a warrant on March 23 and on May 1, Kavanah was stopped for a motor vehicle violation in Westchester and taken into custody for the warrant.

On May 4, Kavanah agreed to return to Connecticut to answer to the charges and was transported to Greenwich Police headquarters where he was charged with Risk of Injury to a Minor and Threatening 2. His bond was set at $50,000, which he was unable to post. He was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on June 25, 2020.
