Local Man Faces Multiple Charges after Incident at Greenwich Avenue Bank

Greenwich Police say that on Dec 29 they were contacted by Citizens Bank about an attempted financial crime at their Greenwich Ave location. The suspect, later identified as Daniel A Petrone, 44, of Greenwich, had attempted to cash a check by providing a counterfeit driver’s license.

They were told the suspect was a white male wearing a gray hat who left the scene in a green Toyota RAV4 with Massachusetts registration.

Greenwich Police located the vehicle in the area of Railroad Ave where they stopped the car.

Investigation revealed that Daniel A Petrone was in possession of a counterfeit New York state ID with his photograph but the name of another person.

In addition Petrone was found to be in possession of a counterfeit bank card that matched the name of the counterfeit New York State ID.

Petrone was arrested and charged with Criminal Attempt Larceny 6, Identity Theft 3,Criminal Impersonation, Forgery 2 and Forgery 3.

He was released on a promise to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Jan 15, 2024.
