Local Man Charged Assaulting a Cop; Reckless Burning outside Starbucks on Greenwich Ave

On Dec 10, Greenwich Police responded to Starbucks on Greenwich Avenue on a report of a disorderly man creating a disturbance outside the store.

Police say that on scene investigation revealed that the arrestee, Sam Graff, 26, had recklessly started a small fire along the edge of the building. Further, they said Graff resisted arrest and retreated into the public roadway blocking the path of passing motorists.

Graff proceeded to threw a hot beverage at an officer’s head and threw several punches with a closed fist.

Graff continued to exhibit fighting behavior with officers until he was safely taken into custody.

He was brought to Greenwich Police headquarters and processed for the following charges:

Reckless Burning, Interfering with an Officer/Resisting Arrest, Assault of a Public Safety Officer, Breach of Peace 1 (violent/threat), Breach of Peace 2 Assault/Striking and Disorderly Conduct obstructing vehicular/pedestrian traffic.

Graff’s bond was set at $25,000, which he was unable to post. He was placed into police detention and assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on Dec 24, 2021.
