Greenwich Police Issue Flooding Update Following Heavy Rains

Late Sunday night and early on Monday, heavy rains resulted in flooding of numerous roads in Greenwich, with first responders actively doing water rescues.

Road obstructions included Brookside, Grigg Street and Cos Cob Avenue, where barricades were erected.

On Monday, Greenwich Police Captain John Slusarz shared an update on storm flooding.

He said Town of Greenwich experienced moderate flooding during Sunday’s storm.

As of 8:30 am on Monday, he said the only road closure due to flooding was Shore Road in Central Greenwich.

“There were no reports of motor vehicle crashes related to the weather event, however there were two reports of vehicles that got stuck trying to get through street flooding,” Slusarz said, adding that vehicle occupants were removed without incident or injury.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms on Monday in Greenwich, with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 81°.
