Greenwich Police Foil Financial Crime Attempt by Trio of New Yorkers

Greenwich Police plain clothes officers on routine patrol in the area of Greenwich Ave on Tuesday observed behavior consistent with that of someone committing a financial crime.

Police arrested Morace Currie, Tariq Lance Washington, and Daison Michael Mitchell who allegedly conspired to commit the crime. Mr. Washington allegedly entered a bank on Greenwich Ave and attempted to make a withdrawal from a counterfeit check bearing the victim’s personal identifying information (PII).

Mr. Currie, 31, of Bronx, NY was charged with:

Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 3
Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft 2
Conspiracy to Commit Forgery 3

His bond was set at $200,000 which he was unable to post. He has a date in Stamford Superior Court on Jan 22, 2025.

Mr. Washington, 30, of Brooklyn, NY was charged with:

Criminal Attempt Larceny 3
Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 3
Identity Theft 2
Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft 2
Forgery 3
Conspiracy to Commit Forgery 3

His bond was set at $25,000, which he was unable to post. He shares the date in court on Jan 22, 2025.

Mr. Mitchell, 34, of New York, NY was charged with:

Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 3
Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft 2
Conspiracy to Commit Forgery 3

His bond was set at $15,000, which he was unable to post. He is also due in court on Jan 22, 2025.
