Greenwich Police Charge New York Man with Enticing Child by Computer, Criminal Attempt Sexual Assault 2

Greenwich Police announced that over the course of several weeks their Special Victims Section conducted an undercover operation in which a detective purported himself in an online chat application to be a 14-year-old female from Greenwich and was eventually befriended by John Constant, 31, from New York, NY.

Over the course of the investigation, Mr. Constant began to steer the conversation toward a more sexually explicit nature. He also began describing sex acts that he wanted to perform on the 14-year old girl when they met. The investigation culminated with Mr. Constant making plans to meet with the “girl” in person at a specific location in Greenwich.

On Dec 12, police say Mr. Constant followed through with his plan and traveled to Greenwich. He was arrested without incident after he arrived at the pre-arranged location. He was charged with Risk of Injury to a Child, Illegal Sexual Contact of Victim under Age 16, Criminal Attempt/Sexual Assault 2, and Criminal Attempt Enticing a Minor by Computer. He was held on $250,000 bond.

He was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court the following day.
