Greenwich Police announced that they caught up with an armed bank robber who held up Patriot Bank on Mason Street back in 2017 and escaped to first to New York in a vehicle, then on foot.

Police said they traveled to Federal Correctional Institution McKean in Lewis Run, Pennsylvania to extradite Jose Luis Martinez, 35, on Monday.
He was brought back to Greenwich where he was processed on the following outstanding charges:
• Robbery 1st Degree (3 counts) – CGS 53a-134(a)(2)
• Criminal Possession of a Pistol/Revolver – CGS 53a-217c
• Larceny 2nd Degree – CGS 53a-123
Police said that back on January 25, 2017, officers arrived within seconds, initiating rapid search, containment, and investigative efforts. A vehicle matching the suspect’s description fled the scene, leading officers on a pursuit into New York before the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. A coordinated multi-agency search followed.
Through extensive investigative work, Greenwich Police Detectives identified Mr. Martinez as the suspect.
