Greenwich Police Arrest Driver for Intentionally Crashing into Scooter, Assaulting Driver on North Street

Greenwich Police arrested a Port Chester, NY man on Saturday after an incident on  North Street.

According to Greenwich Police officers were detailed to the area of 941 North Street around 7:25am on a report of two men actively fighting in the roadway. Further, they said it appeared that the two had been involved in a crash between a scooter and an SUV.

Investigation on scene revealed that Efrain Melendez-Guerra, 42, intentionally drove his vehicle into the rear of the scooter causing serious physical injury to the victim.

Further, they said, after striking the scooter, Mr. Melendez-Guerra exited his vehicle and began to physically assault the victim with his fists.

Mr. Melendez-Guerra was charged with:

Failure to Drive Upon Right
Improper Passing/Unsafe Distance
Illegal Operation MV Harass/Intimidation
Breach of Peace 2
Assault 2
Assault 3
Reckless Endangerment 1

His bond was set at $50,000, which he was unable to post, and he is due in Stamford Superior Court on April 21, 2025.
