Greenwich Police Arrest Car Thieves Who Targeted Riverside

Greenwich police recently arrested two men from New Britain for stealing vehicles in Riverside.

On April 17 police patrol units responded to the area of Indian Point Lane around 5:00pm on a report of a motor vehicle theft in progress.

The arrestees, Cristian Martinez, 29, and Victor Manuel Ortiz, 20, fled when police arrived after successfully stealing two motor vehicles.

Detectives obtain information that one of the stolen vehicles was stopped in Fairfield and that Mr. Martinez and Mr. Ortiz fled the scene but were later arrested.

According to the CT Judicial Branch, CT State Police from Troop G charged Ortiz with Failure to Drive in Proper Lane, Operating MV without License and Evading Responsibility.

Mr. Martinez and Mr. Ortiz were subsequently taken into custody by Greenwich Police.

Mr. Martinez was charged with Larceny of Motor Vehicle – 1st offense and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny of Motor Vehicle – 1st offense. According to the CT Judicial Branch was unable to post his $75,000 bond and his next date in Stamford Superior Court is June 16, 2026.

Mr. Ortiz was charged with Larceny of Motor Vehicle – 2nd offense and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny of Motor Vehicle – 2nd offense.  He was unable to post his $100,000 bond and according to the Judicial branch website his next court date is June 16, 2026.
