Greenwich Police Announce Arrest of Suspect in Car Theft, Shooting

In a follow up to the news last week that a resident was shot at and injured when he interrupted a motor vehicles theft in progress, Greenwich Police announced they had arrested Jayden Ganthier, 18, at his residence in Bridgeport, CT by warrant.

The incident took place on on Sept 23 around 5:00am Officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle theft and injured individual on the west side of town.

Upon arrival, officers located a male suffering from injuries to his lower extremities. The victim reported confronting suspects involved in the theft of a vehicle, and during the encounter one of the suspects discharged a firearm, resulting in minor injuries to the victim.

The stolen vehicle was later located in Bridgeport with assistance from the Bridgeport Police Department. During the follow-up investigation, officers recovered a firearm, a shell casing, and other related evidence.

On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, Greenwich Detectives, in coordination with the Bridgeport Police Department, arrested Ganthier by warrant.

Ganthier faces the following charges: 

CGS  53-202k – Commission of a Class A, B, or C Felony with a Firearm

CGS 53a-122 – Larceny in the First Degree

CGS 53-203 Illegal Discharge of a Firearm

CGS  29-38 –Illegal Possession of a Weapon in a Motor Vehicle

CGS 53a-134 – Robbery in the First Degree

CGS 53a-59 – Assault in the First Degree

CGS 29-36(a) – Illegal Alteration of a Firearm

CGS  53a-63 – Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree

Ganthier’s bond was set at $500,000, which he was unable to post, resulting in his continued custody.
