Greenwich Man Known to Police Charged with Violation of Protective Order, Again

About 1:20am on Wednesday multiple Greenwich Police units responded to a location in Pemberwick on a report of an unwanted individual at a residence in violation of a protective order.

Officers determined that Michael Rinello, 44, of Greenwich had violated the protective order when he was in contact with the protected person via cell phone and had stayed in the protected person’s residence “for a couple days” with the protected person.

Rinello was charged with Violation of Protective Order.

He was unable to post his $2500 bond and was placed within the cell block at GPD.

He was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court later in the morning.

Rinello was previously arrested by GPD in August of 2021 and charged with Assault and Strangulation following a physical fight with a victim. In that incident, police said Rinello strangled the victim, grabbed and threw the victim into a wall and punched the victim’s car windshield, leaving it damaged.

Those charges are awaiting disposition according to the CT Judicial Branch website, which says his next date in court is April 12, 2022.

He also has an Assault and Disorderly charges in Greenwich stemming back to Dec 24, 2020 that are awaiting disposition.
