UPDATED: Greenwich Man Charged with Voyeurism, Possession of Child Porn

On Wednesday, Greenwich Police arrested a resident, Deane Flood Jr, 53, of 382 Riversville Rd, on Possession of Child Pornography and Voyeurism charges.

Mr. Flood was taken into custody after police obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Search and Seizure warrants were also obtained for the subject’s workplace, residence, and personal vehicle for any devices that may contain additional child pornography or voyeuristic images.

According to Mr. Flood’s LinkedIn page, he has worked as a teacher at Eagle Hill School in Greenwich since 2000.

A letter sent to the Eagle Hill community from head of school Gretchen Larkin said Mr. Flood had been arrested Wednesday on campus by Greenwich Police, at which time, she said, “…we took immediate steps to move students to separate, out of view locations.”

Larkin’s letter said Mr. Flood, who taught grades 6-8, coached and co-directed the summer program, had been placed on unpaid administrative leave and barred from the school’s campus and properties including his faculty housing.

“Law enforcement is working to identify and notify potential victims and their families,” she continued, adding, “We are working closely and fully cooperating with law enforcement as they continue their investigation, including their execution of search warrants. We have every reason to believe this was an isolated incident. Eagle Hill conducts background checks and regular trainings as part of our employment practices.”

Larkin said school was canceled for the remainder of the week.

“We know that your children may have questions and we will be following up shortly with resources to help you speak with your children,” she added, referring the community to Greenwich Police with relevant information about their ongoing investigation.

According to the GPD web page, the Special Victims Section received a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) Cyber Tip Line indicating that child pornography had been downloaded to a device in Greenwich.

The investigation alleges that electronic media devices belonging to Mr. Flood received known images of child pornography.  Further, during the course of the investigation, investigators discovered several videos of children playing and conducting normal child activities as part of their day.

The videos were taken in a private setting and, from the focal point, were filmed in a manner that would indicate the children nor their parents gave consent to being videoed or had knowledge they were being videoed.

According to the police Criminal Information Summary released to media on Thursday, in addition to being in possession of child pornography, Mr. Flood had utilized his cellular phone to surreptitiously record voyeuristic videos of numerous individuals.

Flood was charged with the following Connecticut General Statutes:

Bond was set at $500,000, and Flood was issued a court date of February 28, 2024.

Police said their investigation was ongoing and the Special Victim Section is working on identifying any potential victims. If you believe your child may have been in contact with Flood, you can contact the Special Victims Section at 203-622-8030.
