Greenwich Man Charged with DUI, Driving without Ignition Device, Speeding, No License

Greenwich Police arrested a Greenwich man on June 12 after officers observed a vehicle traveling at 46 mph in a posted 25mph zone in the area of Mill Street and Henry Street in Byram. The vehicle was also observed crossing over the double-yellow center line.

A motor vehicle stop was conducted. During investigation the accused,  Jorge Omar Leyva Arellano, 30, was determined to have a revoked New York driver’s license. He was also required to have an ignition interlock device, but it was not installed in the vehicle.

Mr. Arellano was displaying signs of alcohol impairment and was requested to submit to a field sobriety test, but he was unable to perform to Standard.

He was arrested and charged with Traveling Unreasonably Fast, DUI, Illegal Operation of Motor Vehicle without Ignition Device, Failure to Drive Upon Right, Operating Motor Vehicle without License.

Arellano was able to post the required minimum 7% of his $1,000 bond and assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on June 26. According to the CT Judicial Branch website, his next court date is August 5, 2026.
