On Thursday, Oct 5 around 9:00pm Greenwich Police responded to a call about a man breathing but not moving inside a vehicle in the area of 23 Church Street.
Police located the vehicle and made contact with the man, Winthrop Brignoli of Greenwich, who was determined to be sleeping.
The car was not in operation at the time, and a witness stated it has been parked there for at least three hours, so police allowed Mr. Brignoli to walk home.
Then, close to 10:00pm, an officer spotted Brignoli walking in the area of East Putnam Ave and Church St toward his vehicle.
Officers responded back to the scene and found Brignoli operating his vehicle, attempting to drive home.
Brignoli failed to perform field sobriety tests to standard and was taken into custody.
Brignoli was charged with DUI. His bond was set at $250 and he has a date in Stamford Superior Court on Oct 20, 2023.
