On the evening of March 27 Greenwich Police officers doing enforcement in Byram spotted a red 2008 Toyota Yaris traveling east on Delavan Ave with no front registration plate.
While behind the car, officers observed it to have a Texas dealer plate on display. Texas dealer plates are only permitted to be driven inside the state of Texas.
Police stopped the car and upon investigation learned the driver had no driver’s license, no proof of insurance and no valid registration for the car.
Also, the Texas dealer plate came back registered to a 2021 Honda Accord.
The driver, Hector Cazares-Gonzalez, 38, of Richmond, VA, was arrested and charged with Driving Unregistered Vehicle, Improper Use of Registration, Failure to Display Plates, Driving without License and Failure to Insure Vehicle.
Cazares-Gonzalez was released after posting the required 10% of his $500 bond and assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on April 8, 2022.
