GPD: Heavy Police Presence in Byram Wednesday Afternoon

On Wednesday afternoon, Greenwich Police shared news of a heavy Police Presence in Byram.

At 1:19 pm the Greenwich Police Department became aware of a possible car carrier scam.

Officers in an attempt to intercept the larceny from occurring responded to the Byram area for surveillance.

Around 3:01pm the incident escalated when the offender arrived to the area and undercover officers identified themselves to make the arrest.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle the offender was driving. The vehicle fled the scene after attempting to strike one of the officers. Shortly after, during the course of the incident, the vehicle struck a marked patrol vehicle while attempting to further evade police. The officer in the vehicle was injured from the collision and is being evaluated.

Multiple officers responded to the area resulting in a significant police presence.

Currently, two people connected with the incident have been arrested. However, the incident remains under active investigation. Therefore additional information will be released once the investigation has been concluded.

At this time, there is no known threat to the community, police said in their post shared around 5:00pm.
