GPD: Four Bronx Men Face Charges for Fraudulent Bank Activity

On Wednesday afternoon Greenwich Police plainclothes officers in the area of Mason Street and Amogerone Crossway in central Greenwich observed suspicious activity at a local bank.

Police say four men from the Bronx were found to have allegedly conspired to attempt to cash a counterfeit check in the amount of $1,271.23.

Arrestees were Jahpower Simon, 27; Whitaker Greene, 20; Ty-Sean Heath, 30; and Kellan Batton, 28.

A search incident to arrest revealed three more counterfeit checks with the same victim check issuer also made out to the co-conspirators, Mr. Greene and Mr. Batton.

Mr. Simon was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 4, Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft 3, Forgery 3 (three counts) ans Conspiracy to Commit Forgery 3 (three counts). His bond was set at $20,000 which he was unable to post. He was assigned a court date on Aug 2, 2023.

Mr. Greene was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 4, Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft 3, and Conspiracy to Commit Forgery 3 (three counts). His bond was set at $20,000 and he shares a date in Stamford Superior Court on Aug 2, 2023.

Mr. Heath was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 4, Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft 3, and Conspiracy to Commit Forgery 3 (three counts). He was unable to post his $50,000 bond and is due in Stamford Superior Court on Aug 2, 2023.

Mr. Batton was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 4, Criminal Attempt Larceny 4, Identity Theft 3, Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft 3,and Conspiracy to Commit Forgery 3 (three counts). He was unable to post his $20,000 bond and is due in Court on Aug 2, 2023.
