GPD: DUI for Port Chester Driver Whose Car Had Temporary California Registration

On Feb 4 Greenwich Police spotted a silver Honda Odyssey with a temporary California registration traveling on Delavan Ave. Police ran the registration, which resulted in no hits on file. Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Ritch Ave. Upon investigation officers determined that the registration did not belong on the vehicle, that the car was not registered and did not have valid insurance.

During the investigation police observed open containers of alcohol within the car and the odor of alcoholic beverage was emanating from within the car.

The accused, Benigno Duboncontreras, 24, of Port Chester, admitted to having consumed alcohol before driving.

He was unable to perform field sobriety tests to standard and was placed under arrest for DUI.

He was also charged with Operating Unregistered Motor Vehicle, Improprer Use of Marker, and Failure to Insure Motor Vehicle.

He was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on Feb 17 and was released after posting the required 10% of his $250 bond.
