GPD: Drunk Driver Backed into Pedestrian, Tossed Wine Bottle from Car

On Dec 21, around 5:45pm, Greenwich Police were detailed to 161 West Putnam Ave on a report of a car accident involving an injured pedestrian.

According to Lt Slusarz, the incident occurred at Stop and Shop and the pedestrian, an employee wearing an orange vest while collecting shopping carts, was knocked over when a woman backed up and hit him and a shopping cart.

The employee was taken to Greenwich Hospital for evaluation.

Investigation revealed that the driver, Caitlin Brown, 42, of 79 Connecticut Ave in Greenwich, was driving under the influence and had attempted to discard a wine bottle prior to police arrival.

Ms. Brown was arrested and charged with DUI and Tempering with Evidence. Her bond was set at $250, which she was able to post.

She has a date in Stamford Superior Court on January 4, 2017.
