GPD Arrests Knife-Wielding Burglar in Chickahominy

A Bronx, NY man faces multiple charges from Greenwich Police following an incident in the area of St. Roch Ave in Chickahominy on Tuesday.

Police responded around 2:00pm to Holly Hill Lane by 500 West Putnam Avenue on a report of two men holding down a third man and yelling for someone to call 911.

Police arrived on scene and determined that the third man, later identified as Danny Collazo, 48, had entered a residential home in the area without permission and stolen several items worth over $2325.

Collazo was interrupted by the homeowner during the burglary and fled from the residence. In his attempt to flee, Collazo brandished a knife and made several pointed movements toward the homeowner.

A search following Collazo’s arrest turned up several folds of heroin and a small clear plastic straw he admitted he used to”sniff” the heroin.

Collazo was charged with Use of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Controlled Substance, Burglary 1, Larceny 3, Robbery 2, and Breach of Peace 2.

He was unable to post the required 10% of his $100,000 bond and was laced in a cell block. Collazo has a date in Stamford Superior Court on May 9, 2023.
