Fraud Suspect Charged after Bike Patrol and Plain Clothes Officers Respond to Local Bank

On March 2 Greenwich Police received a report of a fraudulent transaction in progress at a bank in the area of Greenwich Avenue.

Bike patrol officers and plain clothed officers working in the area responded and were able to detain the suspect.

Investigation revealed that Babajide Julius, 23, of Bronx, NY, had used two fraudulent identity documents – a Texas Driver’s License and American Express card – which contained personal identification information of the victim, to attempt to fraudulently open a checking account in that person’s name.

Mr. Julius was arrested and charged with Identity Theft 3, Criminal Impersonation, Forgery 2 and Forgery 3. He was able to post the required 10% cash of his $10,000 bond and has a date in Stamford Superior Court on March 16, 2022.
