Four people from Brooklyn, New York were arrested by Greenwich Police on Friday afternoon after plainclothes officers observed suspicious activity in the area of Greenwich Avenue related to transactions at a local financial institution.
Police said that on Dec 27, both patrol officers and plainclothes officers were able to detain and positively identify the four suspects as Yuying Qiu, 47; Mengqin Shao, 44; Huiguang Qu, 44; and Feng Qing, 43.
Investigation revealed that the suspects conspired to obtain a debit card in the victim’s name by presenting a counterfeit New Jersey license with the victim’s personal identifiable information and one of the suspect’s photo.
A subsequent search of the vehicle in which the co-conspirators were located revealed a counterfeit California license featuring one of the co-conspirator’s face, as well as 7 New York licenses featuring different individuals, 2 US Social Security cards, along with 9 associated debit/credit cards in manila envelopes containing additional victims’ personal identifying information transcribed on the outside.
