Florida Man Charged following Financial Crimes Investigation by GPD

Greenwich Police went to Polk County Jail in Winter Haven, Florida to extradite a suspect wanted in Greenwich for Larceny 6 and Identity Theft 3.

On May 30, the Polk County Sheriff posted on Twitter, “30-year old Yonat Serrano-Espinosa is apparently a popular guy in Connecticut…they really want him to return. So much so that they contacted the Polk County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, May 29th, asking us to go find him. Who are we to say no to them? Mr. Serrano-Espinosa had a warrant for his arrest out of Greenwich, Connecticut for Identity Theft and Larceny. PCSO deputies began snooping around and located him at a business on Old Tampa Highway in Lakeland. He was arrested by the deputies who then chauffeured him to Grady Judd’s Bed & Breakfast. From there, he’ll be provided with a one-way trip to beautiful Fairfield County, Connecticut for an all-inclusive stay there.”

The Greenwich charges stemmed from an incident on Gold street in Byram back on Jan 11, 2024.

Police said the charges stemmed from a Financial Crimes investigation initiated in November 2024.

The suspect, Yonat Serrano Espinosa, 30, of Lakeland, Florida was held on $50,000 bond.

He was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on June 25, 2024.
