The Stamford Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad is investigating a serious injury motor vehicle vs. pedestrian collision, that occurred in the area of Stillwater Ave and Progress Drive at approximately 5:30am on Friday July 31, 2026.
Stamford Police said an elderly female was walking across Progress Dr. where she was struck by a 2022 Ford Escape being driven by a 28 year-old Stamford resident. The operator of the vehicle stayed on scene and spoke to responding officers.
The pedestrian was transported to Stamford Hospital by Stamford EMS and was determined to have life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition at this time.
The pedestrian was not carrying any identification and as of now, her identity is unknown. The Stamford Police Department is asking for assistance from the public in attempting to identify the pedestrian. The description of the pedestrian is an elderly female, possibly Hispanic, approximately 5 feet tall with a thin build. She has curly dark/gray hair and was walking in the area possibly collecting bottles and cans.
