DUI for Wrong Way Driver on Greenwich Ave

On Friday night around 9:30pm, Greenwich Police patrolling Greenwich Avenue received anonymous tip that a red pickup truck was driving the wrong way up Greenwich Avenue.

The caller called back a short time later to say the truck had parked on the Ave in the area of St Mary’s Church.

Through further investigation, police determined that the driver, identified as Ismael Mendoza, 35, of Oak Street in Port Chester, had red glassy eyes and the odor of alcohol.

Mendoza did not perform field sobriety tests to standard.

A cold half full beer can was observed in the truck’s center console.

Mendoza admitted to drinking while driving and a DMV inquiry revealed he didn’t have a valid driver’s license.

Mendoza was charged with DUI, Driving Without a License, Driving the Wrong Way on a One Way Street, Drinking while Driving.

His bond was set at $250 and he has a date in Stamford Superior Court on May 10, 2019.
