DUI for Driver of Car Spotted Crossing Double Yellow on West Putnam Ave

On Aug 1, around 8:30pm Greenwich Police were performing motor vehicle enforcement on West Putnam Ave when they observed a car traveling east on West Putnam Ave with no tail lights illuminated.

While following behind the car, they observed it crossing the double yellow line and white hash marks on the right side of the road.

A motor vehicle stop was conducted. While speaking with the driver, identified as Josafa Rabelo De Almeida, 35, of Cos Cob, police say he had glossy eyes and the odor of alcoholic beverage. Mr. De Almeida was unable to perform field sobriety tests to standard and was charged with DUI, Failure to drive in Proper Lane and Improper Rear marker Lamps.

He was able to post the required 10% and has a date in Stamford Superior Court on Aug 16, 2021.
