DUI for Driver in Crash Who Had Just Fled Another Crash

On Oct 2 around 8:30pm, Greenwich Police responded to the scene of a car crash on Mead Ave in Byram.

Investigation determined that one of the drivers involved, Jennifer Rai, 44, of Peck Ave in Greenwich could not remember how the accident had occurred and appeared confused. Police say Rai admitted to having consumed alcohol and submitted to field sobriety tests, which she was unable to perform to standard.

Polie say investigation based on driver statements and damage to cars, Rai failed to drive in the proper lane, causing the collision.

Further, police say Rai had been in a crash on Hervey Street moments before the crash on Mead Ave, and had left the scene.

She was charged with Failure to Drive in Proper Lane, DUI, Evading Responsibility and Driving an Unregistered Motor Vehicle.

Her bond was set at $250 and she was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on Oct 30.
