Driver Who Crashed into Stamford Utility Pole Has Died

On Saturday Stamford Police gave an update on the situation involving a driver who crashed into a utility pole in the area of 690 Atlantic Street on Friday just before noon.

Patrol officers responded to the crash site where an SUV had crashed into and airbags had deployed.

Upon arrival of first responders, the driver, identified as James Morley,  71, of New York, was unresponsive and removed from the vehicle by the Fire Department, who immediately administered medical treatment.

Mr. Morley was transported to Stamford Hospital. While initially being listed as critical, he was later pronounced dead at Stamford Hospital.

C.A.R.S. is investigating all aspects of this crash. The initial assessment of the crash and other factors indicate that Mr. Morley probably suffered a medical episode prior to the crash. Final determination will be made by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
