On Aug 5 Greenwich Police were detailed to the area of 699 West Putnam Ave on a report of a car crash. Upon arrival officers observed the vehicle running in the parking lot and the driver appeared slumped within.
Upon approaching the vehicle to conduct a welfare check, officers detected a strong odor associated with consumption of alcoholic beverage. The driver, Melissa Tiefer of Greenwich was requested to perform standard field sobriety tests but, police say because of her inability to stand up, the test was terminated. The driver admitted to drinking prior to driving. Furthermore, investigation revealed her driver’s license had expired and her vehicle was unregistered.
Tiefer was arrested and charged with Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle, DUI, Failure to Drive in Proper Lane and Driving without a License.
Tiefer was unable to post her $250 bond and remained in GPD custody. She was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on Aug 17, 2022.
