Driver Charged With DUI after Nearly Hitting Greenwich Police Patrol Car and Parked Cars on Delavan Ave

At about 1:45am on Monday, a car passed unusually close to a parked Greenwich Police patrol car on Frontage Road in Byram. Police followed the vehicle west on Delavan Ave, observing it pass legally parked cars at an extremely close distance.

According to Greenwich Police, on two separate occasion, sthe vehicle began to drift towards the parked cars until the driver took corrective action in order to avoid a collision.

After stopping the car, driven by Abrahan Chubaja Rodriguez, 28, of 9 Couch St in Norwalk, police determined Rodriguez did not have a valid license and that Rodriguez’s eyes were glassy and bloodshot.

Rodriguez agreed to submit to standardized field sobriety testing, which he did not perform the standard. While conducting the field sobriety tests the odor of alcoholic type beverages was detected on his breath.

Rodriguez was charged with DUI, Restricted Turns Fail Signal and Driving without a License. He was released on a $300 bond and has a court date on March 21, 2016 in Stamford Superior Court.
